Slack alerts

Get incident-down/up messages in a Slack channel within seconds of detection.

Obzerv ships incidents to Slack via an Incoming Webhook. Slack channels are available on Pro and above. The API write examples require Business.

1. Create the Slack webhook

  1. Open Slack and visit api.slack.com/apps → Create New App → From scratch → name Obzerv → choose your workspace.
  2. Under Features, enable Incoming Webhooks.
  3. Click Add New Webhook to Workspace, pick the channel that should receive alerts.
  4. Copy the URL — https://hooks.slack.com/services/T00.../B00.../....

2. Add the channel to Obzerv

In the dashboard go to Dashboard → Notifications → Add Channel, pick Slack, paste the webhook URL.

Or via API:

curl -X POST https://obzerv.xyz/api/notification-channels \
  -H "Authorization: Bearer $OBZERV_API_KEY" \
  -H "Content-Type: application/json" \
  -d '{
    "type": "slack",
    "name": "Engineering Slack",
    "config": { "webhook_url": "https://hooks.slack.com/services/T00.../B00.../..." }
  }'

The response includes the new channel's id — keep it.

3. Attach to monitors

Open each monitor and add the new channel under Notify on incident, or via API. The monitor update body uses channelIds (array of channel IDs that should receive alerts for this monitor):

curl -X PUT https://obzerv.xyz/api/monitors/<monitor-id> \
  -H "Authorization: Bearer $OBZERV_API_KEY" \
  -H "Content-Type: application/json" \
  -d '{ "channelIds": ["<channel-id>"] }'

Pass the complete desired set on each update — channels not in the array are detached.

4. Test

Send a test notification end-to-end:

curl -X POST https://obzerv.xyz/api/notification-channels/<channel-id> \
  -H "Authorization: Bearer $OBZERV_API_KEY"

Verify receipt in the selected Slack channel.

Message format

Down: 🔴 *<Monitor name>* is DOWN — <error>. <Started at>. Resolved: 🟢 *<Monitor name>* recovered.

The message links to the monitor detail page in your dashboard.
